National Team Sprint

About this program

The National Team Sprint is the top rung of the pathway, and it is invitation-only. It brings together our most advanced competitors for two classes a week plus a weekly practice debate, training against international-style benchmarks. The focus is elimination-round strategy, prepared and impromptu cases to a national-final standard, and the specific demands of NSDA Nationals and national-team selection. Coaches invite students on the strength of their competitive results and progress in the Competition Team.

What a session looks like

Every class runs the same loop, so students always know the shape of the hour.

1. 0:00

   Benchmark review

   The squad watches back a break-round clip or a top international final and takes the standard apart: what actually won the room.

2. 0:20

   Deep motion work

   A hard prepared motion at national-final depth: second-line arguments, the comparative, and the responses strong teams will bring.

3. 0:55

   Impromptu under the clock

   A full one-hour prep run as a drill, so the method holds up when the motion is unseen and the opposition is good.

4. 1:20

   Elimination-round craft

   Panel adaptation, strategic concessions, and how to win the adjudication discussion when the debate is close.

5. 1:45

   Individual review

   One-on-one notes on each debater’s last round and the specific edge to sharpen before the next.

How to join

1. 1

   Train and compete

   The Sprint draws from the Competition Team. The way in is to train with us and put up results at tournaments.

2. 2

   A coach nominates you

   Coaches invite students on the strength of their competitive record and their progress in the squad.

3. 3

   Accept your place

   Invited students confirm the schedule with a coach and join the twice-weekly training block.
