Tim Averill Invitational Online 2026: World Schools

Organised by Massachusetts coaches (Lexington, Newton South, Needham)

A one-Saturday online tournament run by Massachusetts coaches on NSDA Campus: four World Schools rounds at a USD 20 entry fee, a good first tournament.

The Tim Averill Invitational is run by a group of Massachusetts coaches in memory of a long-serving Lexington coach and priced to be accessible: the World Schools division costs USD 20 per team. It runs online on NSDA Campus on Saturday 31 October 2026 only, with four preliminary rounds and no elimination rounds, which makes it a low-pressure first tournament.

Rounds run on US Eastern time across the Saturday, which is the afternoon and evening in Dubai. Registration closes on 28 October. We supply the judge and run the four prep hours in the two weeks before.

What's included if you sign up through us

  • 4 hours of coaching by experts
  • Sorted registration and judge requirement
  • Feedback about the tournament after the rounds
Is this a good first tournament?

Yes. Four rounds in one day, an open division, and no break, so every team debates the full card.

Is there a TOC bid?

No. Choose this for experience; choose Westminster, ISDI or the SVUDL Invitational for bids.

Preparing for the tournament

Students entering their first judged rounds usually get the most out of a short run of coached practice first. The Foundation class covers the format from scratch, the Competition Team trains year-round, and the motion bank has thousands of real motions to practise on. How rounds are scored is explained in how World Schools judging works.
