The veil of ignorance is a philosophical thought experiment proposed by John Rawl. An individual behind the veil of ignorance has not been born into society yet and has no knowledge about who they will be born as (their socioeconomic class, race, nationality, etc.). The thought experiment is originally used to argue in favour of greater social equality and public good.
